RULES
1. The club to be called AYLESBURY AREA DISABLED CLUB
2. The object of the Club is to provide a happy, enjoyable & safe place where disabled people and their families can make friends and take part in sporting and social activities, thereby improving the quality of life of the said persons.
3(a) The annual subscription to be payable on or before the 1st April. In the event of late payment the full annual subscription will still be due.
(b) The amount of annual subscription to be determined by the members at the Annual General Meeting.
(c) Members whose subscriptions are not paid within three months of the renewal date shall have their membership reviewed by the Committee.
4(a) Acceptance of membership to the club is subject to the approval of, and at the discretion of, the committee.
(b) The first year’s membership shall be charged at a pro-rata rate, rounded up to the nearest pound for the number of months or part thereof until the renewal date the following April.
(c) Membership shall be open to anyone with a physical disability, except in the case of physically fit helpers, when membership shall be open to anyone interested in furthering the object of the Club. In the interests of safety and due to the absence of suitably trained helpers, people with mental health issues and/or possible behavioural problems, cannot be accepted.
(d) Members may at the discretion of the committee, sign in visitors to the club for a nominal fee. All such visitors must abide by the club rules and their conduct will be the responsibility of the member who signed them in.
(e) Non-disabled people may at the discretion of the committee join the club for the appropriate annual subscription and become ‘Friends of AADC’. However, ‘Friends of AADC’ may take part in all non-competition activities subject to the availability of places but preference will be given to disabled members.
(f) ‘Friends of AADC’ membership affords rights only to receive newsletters and to be nominated for the Mike Downey Memorial Award. This category of member will not be entitled to vote on any matters relating to Club business.
(g) ‘Friends of AADC’ must observe club rules at all times.
(h) The committee reserves the right to refuse or revoke membership of any person (including those with visitor or ‘Friends of AADC’ status) at any time as is deemed necessary in the interests of the Club and its members.
(i) Bad language, disrespectful or dangerous behaviour will not be tolerated. Any offender will
receive a warning and/or have membership terminated by the committee.
(j) The committee reserves the right to request a Criminal Records Bureau check of all Helper Members including relatives of members who join as part of a Joint/Family membership.
(k) The status of affiliate Helper Member shall be granted at the discretion of the Committee. Such membership affords rights only to receive newsletters and to be nominated for the Mike Downey Memorial Award. This category of member will pay no subscription and will not be entitled to vote on any matters relating to Club business. The affiliated membership is to be renewed annually.
(l) In all matters relating to acceptance of membership, the decision of the committee will be final.
(m) Members who wish to serve on the committee should have completed more than 12 months paid membership. In exceptional circumstances, this rule may be waived at the discretion of the committee provided said member does not take on the role of an Officer on the committee and does not become a cheque signatory until at least 12 months has been served on the committee.
5. The accounts to be audited (if appropriate) annually and presented to members at the Annual General Meeting, of which the members will have 14 days notice.
6. At the Annual General Meeting there shall be elected, a President, up to two Vice-Presidents, a Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Treasurer and a Secretary, plus a Committee not exceeding eight members, with powers to co-opt additional persons at any time they deem necessary. Other local societies may be invited to propose representatives who may then be co-opted.
7. A special General Meeting must be called if a signed request from a minimum of twelve members is received by the Committee.
8. Any change of rules to have the approval of two-thirds of the members present at a meeting called, with 14 days notice of the meeting and of the new rules. No alteration shall be made which would cause the Club to cease to be a Charity at law.
9. No payments of any kind to be made from the general funds without the approval of the Committee, as expressed by a vote at a committee meeting, apart from normal running expenses.
10. Every cheque drawn on the Club’s Bank Account to bear two signatures. Those of the Treasurer, Chairman, Vice-Chairman or Secretary may be used.
11. All sums over £100 received, to be paid into the Club’s Bank Account with HSBC Bank plc, Aylesbury Town, within fourteen days.
12. In the event of the dissolution of the Club, any assets remaining after the satisfaction of all debts and liabilities shall be transferred or given to some charitable institution or institutions as the Committee shall, with the approval of the Charity Commissioners, determine.
13. Any person or persons wishing to raise funds for the Club is required to obtain the permission of the committee in writing before using the Club’s name for such purpose. This rule does not apply to people wishing to make personal donations directly to the Club.
14. The personal welfare of a child will remain the responsibility of the child's parent(s) or
guardian(s) at all times.
15. The club cannot be held responsible for the loss or damage to a Member's, Helper's, Friend of AADC's, Visitor's or Guest's property, unless said property is on loan to the club for a specific purpose.
16. It is the responsibility of Members, Helpers, Friends of AADC, Visitors and Guests to avoid injury to others or damage to their property/possessions.
17. Injuries sustained during sporting activities are not covered by Club Insurance, therefore members may wish to consider taking out their own personal injury Policy.
